Erste Bank’s Core Transformation: the LIFT project

Recently, Erste embarked on a transformative journey with the LIFT project, an ambitious shift to a new core banking system.

For over 200 years, Erste Bank has been a trusted financial pillar across Central and Eastern Europe. Established in 1819 in Vienna, Austria, Erste has grown into one of the most respected banks in the region, catering to individuals, businesses, and institutional clients with a wide array of financial services.

As a longstanding partner, we played an important role in this transition to a new core system by developing over 250 methods to streamline and enhance services. Our solutions spanned crucial banking operations, including client data management, accounts, credit lines, card services, domestic and foreign payments, and the implementation of document management systems and notifications.

The technical challenges we encountered were multifaceted. Integrating Swift for foreign payments, as well as Document Management System (DMS) was particularly complex, requiring seamless handling of documents from receipt to storage. The DMS integration allowed Erste Bank to efficiently manage, track, and store important documents, enhancing the overall operational workflow.

The primary challenge, however, lay in supporting Erste’s transition to an entirely new core banking system. This transformation, akin to launching a new bank, was a monumental shift for Erste, demanding reliable technical support and precision to ensure continuity with minimal disruptions. Our team was dedicated to providing real-time support and troubleshooting, helping Erste maintain a smooth and stable operation with negligible bugs on our end.

The LIFT project also involved the integration of industry-leading platforms such as Temenos/T24, Assecco, Norkom, CMS, NotificationCentre, and Halcom. These integrations have not only modernized Erste Bank’s operational landscape but also improved efficiency, allowing the bank to better serve its clients.

As Erste Bank continues to redefine banking across Central and Eastern Europe, Comtrade System Integration is proud to have been a trusted partner in their journey. We look forward to supporting their future endeavors and setting new benchmarks in banking innovation together.
