Why did Comtrade decide to take this approach to new technology and test the Watsonx platform?
So, the thing is that AI is developing quite fast these days and as you can see every day we have something new. We have something that will solve some of our issues, that will be more performant, that will be easier to deploy, etc. So, we have decided to be certain that what we will offer to our clients is a technology that we can fully commit to. And not just that, but we wanted to enable our teams to be prepared for such projects, as well as to solve some of the issues that are solvable with AI in Comtrade System Integration. So, we have an internal case. We chose an IBM Watsonx as a technology that we want to, let’s say, test that case and we are testing it.
What are the results and conclusions of Comtrade’s Watsonx testing?
With Watsonx we are having a comprehensive platform. So, this is first benefit that we noticed. We will have a sort of a data lake, as well as AI playground for our AI engineers. Also, we will be able to offer our clients governance for those AI workloads and for those large language models that they will deploy. So, with these three scenarios, we are fully prepared for enterprise-grade AI use cases with our clients. So, we are not speaking here about solving some of the document’s summarization such as which we considered as a lightweight AI cases. But we are thinking about enterprise-grade cases. We are speaking about cases where you need to have dedicated documentation that you know that the source of those documents is truthful for your organization and that results needs to be as concrete as possible without any hallucination or without any third-party sources that will impact the response that you will receive from from that AI model.
How can users apply Watsonx in their environment and for what specific purposes?
Deployment has proven to be far simpler that we thought of it. So, on the deployment side, it’s very simple. Of course, depending on the use case and depending on what will be the backbone for and what will be feeding the AI models. This is one thing and the other one is basically any use case that customers have but they want to have exact and known sources of information. They want to rely on their own documentation procedures or even if we are speaking about government entities that they want to obey laws that are strict. Basically, for any of those use cases Watsonx is a platform that is ready to be deployed as well as we are speaking about something that is very interesting in the EU right now and that is AI Act which is, let’s say, solved or complied with through this Watsonx governance part. Watsonx is prepared for all the customers and for all of the use cases and it’s simple to deploy. And now, we as a Comtrade have our own Watsonx competence center built in house where we have five teams working to have this platform up and running and we are prepared to showcase this to our customers.
